The Argentinean landmark was inaugurated along with the Brazilian landmark on 20 July 1903. This came about through a Strategic Committee of the two countries.

The stone and cement markings painted in national colors, show the visual limits of the territories of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, and the point where the Iguazu and Parana rivers unite.
